CARREAU DU TEMPLE
A perfect example of Paris’ tradition of metallic architecture from the end of the 19th century, but also of the city’s tradition of covered markets, the Carreau du Temple reopened in the Spring of 2014. The work was carried out by StudioMilou Architecture, and the renaissance of the building emphasises the metallic structure and lets light in from every possible angle. The space can house every type of cultural event and epitomizes Paris, playing as it does on architectural codes and the city’s light : stainless steel is used for the skirting and new furniture, zinc for the roofing, the interior partitions are in oak and stainless steel. A veritable icon is born again.
