AUBERGE DE JEUNESSE YVES ROBERT
The French youth hostel association dates to 1956. The Yves Robert hostel is located in the Pajol building, once a warehouse for French railways that has been converted into a low energy building, it is not just for the young. These days, youth hostels are for all generations and all nationalities. In an architecture that uses plenty of wood, the roof is dotted with solar panels and in a district that wears its green credentials on its sleeve the building has been granted the ‘Green Key’ label which recognises buildings for their environmental impact. 700,000 people have already used the concept. A success story.
