At the Volume Bookstore : immerse yourself in architecture, urbanism and landscape literature
From 11a.m., go in the 3rd district of Paris to discover the Volume Bookstore, 47 rue Notre Dame de Nazareth.
Installed since 2014, this design bookstores offers a wide choice of books and magazines around three specific themes : architecture, urbanism and landscapes. The fund is regularly renewed in order for the publications and books to be relevant with what is going on in those domains.
A gold mine for literature’s lovers : monographs, essays, stories … But also books about objects and photographs. Meetings are regularly scheduled as well as book signings, vernissages of photo exhibitions, drawings or engravings ; all in a dedicated space.
With a large panel of books on various topics dedicated to them, children will certainly benefit from a visit there.
The La Friche Library : find your happiness, whatever your literary preferences
After the lunch break, direct yourself to the 11th district of Paris to find an over 10 years old establishment : La Friche Librairie.
Open since February 2006, this bookshop proposes a large selection of books on various fields of activity. Literature, Human Sciences, Fine Arts, Youth and comics, magazines, practical books (travel guides, cookbooks, etc.), audio CDs (music, audiobooks, programs, etc.). Those will satisfy most people.
Due to the durable nature of books, the architects wanted to recreate the same atmosphere by transforming the bookstore into an unique and emblematic place in the neighborhood. Dimitri Sautier, architect, chose noble materials to dress the space : oak on the ceiling and industrial concrete on the floors.
At Artazart : immerse yourself in the world of art and design
In the 10th district of Paris, on the edges of Canal St Martin, the Artazart design bookstore has been installed since 2000. Selected among the 10 best art and design bookstores in the world by the Huffington Post, Artazart is an emblem of the district.
In this place, the founders Carl Huguenin and Jérôme Fournel teamed up with the fashion designer Serge Bensimon to put the creation in the right environment and spotlight.
The books, magazines and creative and designs products offered vary according to trends and international news in terms of graphics, design and photography. Signings and exhibitions are organized regularly, and many iconic design objects are on sale such as : the Lamp Gras, the Malle W / Trousseau, the Bacsac, etc.
At Chez Les Libraires Associés : share books with family and friends
Open from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and located in the 18th district of Paris, Chez Les Libraires Associés invites you to a journey full of many different kind of literature.
A wide choice is offered to you : children’s books, rare books, “system books”, graphic inventions, cardboard, photomontages, collages, games on materials, cutouts, coloring, kamishibai (paper theaters), origamis or Japanese mangaka … What satisfy the curiosity of the adult and the children.
Alban Caussé and Jacques Desse are the two associates of this cave of Ali Baba and share the same passion : books. Renovated by Véronique Lecomte and Marie Thurnauer, this bookshop also presents exhibitions.
The Walther König bookshop : a mix between a specialized bookstore and a museum shop
In the 16th district of Paris, in the Palais de Tokyo, it’s possible to go to the Walther König Bookstore. Born from an association between her eponymous bookseller and the publisher Cahiers d’Art, she occupies 450m².
His catalog is mainly composed of books on architecture, design, visual arts, cinema and fashion.
Gift items and merchandise related to exhibitions at the Palais de Tokyo are also available. Everything is in a space whose architectural design has been entrusted to the Brussels architecture firm “Of”. The result is an open space delimited by a fence. The ocher color reminds us the methods of exhibition of books in libraries.
At the Taschen Bookstore : art books and documentaries in a woody atmosphere
Located in the 6th district of Paris, the Taschen Bookstore on Buci Street is the place to be for lovers of fashion, photography, eroticism, art, cinema or design. A place with a subdued atmosphere where it is possible to be snapped up by beautiful books within a wide range of prices and formats.
This is the first Tashen bookstore designed by Philippe Starck. The books are highlighted by a case wrapped in dark wenge wood, warm-toned mirrors, dark columns evoking copper tree trunks and exotic wood furniture.
